Housing and Mortgages

Sadly this is an area that is likely to be a greatest importance to many people in the near future.

The department is contracted with the Legal Services Commission to assist people with Housing difficulties. This can include:

Defending claims for possession brought by your landlord including where the landlord is a Housing Association
Bringing actions against your landlord for disrepair
Bringing actions against your landlord for wrongful eviction
Mortgage possession and other related claims.

You may be eligable for legal aid although the rules governing eligibility have been made tighter in recent years.

We work closely with the Citizens Advice Bureau. The CAB is a valuable resource for advice on many different problems.
