Dear Mr. Fiddler,

re:   DCA Consultation Paper  “Delivering value for money in the Criminal Defence Service”

I hope that I am not exhibiting impatience by sending you a copy of my letter of the 15th October but I bear in mind that my first letter to the Department seemed to go astray notwithstanding I had an acknowledgement postcard.   I am confident that you will in fact agree that my correspondence has shown patience and understanding on my part.

More recently I have been asked by a number of people to continue the correspondence not only for myself but on their behalf as well.   In order that they may be kept up-to-date with our correspondence I propose adding the letters to my web site.  I decided to check with you initially to see if there would be any objection whatsoever to this.   If this is a problem could you please get back to me, by return, to explain the problem in order that I can act appropriately.

One problem that comes with “class” correspondence is that there seems to be a collective impatience to progress.   In those circumstances I am hopeful that you will not mind if I ask that replies are sent as quickly as possible.   Others may not be as patient as I am and I don’t want the correspondence to slow down because of any weight of similar letters being sent to your office.

Having said that I am, of course, extremely grateful to you for the time, effort and expertise put into the responses and I would not want to encourage any action that has the effect of putting any of those attributes at risk.

I look forward to hearing from you at your early convenience.

 Yours sincerely,

Dennis A. Clarke
