Criminal Law Solicitors Association

It may come as a surprise but criminal lawyers do not get a good press and Governments seem to enjoy 'knocking' us whenever they want to hide something else.  It is too easy to have a go at us because of the work we have to do.

The Law Society of England and Wales does what it can to look after the interests of all solicitors but to hone the arguments and deal with more issues the profession formed the CLSA to look after the interests of criminal law solicitors.

Those who 'run' the CLSA deserve a great deal of praise.  They tend to be busy practitioners who give up their time to fight for the rights, not only of other criminal lawyers, but also for those people who need to use our services.  Of course the people who need our services are not known.  People do not expect to need to use the services of a criminal lawyer and therefore do not see the point in maintaining the level of service that we have been used to offering.  We all have many instances where families have unexpectedly found a member, young and old and not so old, facing criminal proceedings of great seriousness.  It can happen to anyone.  It will usually happen at the worse time possible.  If we are not there then it will be more difficult or even impossible to manage. The CLSA is committed to ensuring we do survive and that we do so in a form that means we can assist you no matter what the problem, no matter what day and no matter what time of day.  Not many professions are so committed.
